Dr. Giles Richter
CEO


Giles has over 10 years experience as a consultant and analyst of Japan's media industries. Since founding MMJ in 2000, he has consulted for content and technology companies worldwide, and led the company's expansion into European and North American markets. Giles serves as Director of International Alliances for the Mobile Content Forum (MCF), a trade consortium of over 180 leading Japanese wireless companies. He holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and is fluent in Japanese and French.

Andy Schachtel
President


Andy has over 12 years experience as a producer of traditional and new media. In 1997 he co-founded the commercial film production company 5X Faster, Inc. in Los Angeles, which has produced commercials and new-media projects for a variety of international clients such as Toyota, Unilever, P&G, Subaru, Epson, FIFA, Shiseido, Capcom and others. Andy also co-founded the new-media entertainment firm Dreamspan, Inc., which produced a web site featuring over 800 short films and animations that was named best film-related site of the year at the 2000 South by Southwest Internet Awards. Based in Los Angeles, Andy manages and develops MMJ's U.S. accounts and new media projects. Andy is fluent in French and Japanese.

Victor Pikula
CTO
Manager, European Operations


Based in the Netherlands, Victor is responsible for planning and developing MMJ's network of online and mobile sites, as well as incorporating new technological strategies. Prior to joining Mobile Media Japan in May 2001, he worked with SAP Labs Tokyo as a member of the product management team for mobile ERP applications. He specialized in mobile Internet services in Japan while at Rotterdam University, where he obtained his B.A. in Japanese Linguistics and Economics. Victor is fluent in Dutch, English, German and Japanese.

Andrea Lee
Projects Manager

Andrea oversees MMJ's new and ongoing mobile business projects. She brings with her extensive experience in management and administration, including 5 years as Collection Manager at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York where she oversaw the deployment of the Gallery Systems database. She holds a B.A. in Finance and Economics from the University of Texas Austin. Andrea can speak and read Japanese.

Coco Nagasaka
Director and Senior Consultant

Coco has over 10 years experience working in marketing and consulting at Japanese and American advertising agencies. Prior to joining Mobile Media Japan, she ran the Tokyo office of an American relationship marketing company to manage loyalty marketing projects for large foreign corporations in Japan. She holds a B.A. from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, and an M.B.A. from Babcock Graduate School of Management, Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. She is fluent in Japanese and English.

Scott Murff
Business Development

Scott joins Mobile Media Japan after working in Hong Kong as an associate at Incubasia, a seed-stage venture fund conducting telecom projects. Scott also managed a business development team at Mjuice, a digital rights management company in Silicon Valley that was acquired by LA-based ArtistDirect. Scott started his business development background at Wired Ventures in San Francisco, and following its acquisition, corporate development at Lycos US. He graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and is learning Japanese.

Eiko Shimada
Web and Technical Projects

Eiko has over eight years of experience in Japanese web and technical project management. She joins Mobile Media Japan from BT Japan where she managed content development for their Japanese mobile portal. Prior to that, she held multimedia and web production positions with Mitsui and Dentsu. Japan and is fluent in Japanese and English.


Kevin J. Smith
Consultant

Kevin holds a B.A. in Asian Studies-Japan from Washington State University, an M.A. in Japanese Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a Japan-focused MBA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the Japan-America Institute of Management Science. At MMJ, Kevin is responsible for the MMJ website's online advertising, and assists with marketing analysis and research for companies seeking to enter the Japanese wireless market. He speaks and reads Japanese.
